A trip to South Korea

Posted on

We had a opportunity to go to Korea with our friends, Tuulikki and Juri.

And Juri used to work in Finnair, so he gets some ”friend-tickets” per year, meaning, who travels with those tickets , pays only airport- and fuel taxes. Quite cheap ??

It was 12.9.2010 that we planed to go, but we didn’t fit to plane. But next day we lucky to seats.

The flight was Helsinki to Soul. Juri knew the official who booked us in, so we got the best places. where you have lots of space to you feet, emergency exit was beside of us.

When we left Helsinki, it was quite cold, so the first thing was to go to the toilet and change our clothes a little suitable to the local weather, it was hot here in Soul.

We had a reservation in a small hotel in downtown, nearby everything.

First view form the hotel when you step to street.

We found a nice restaurant and had a lovely dinner.

Here me and my Lady,

This reservation we had only for one night, because we had to next day flight to island Jeju, location of about 100 kilometers from south coastal to sea.

The price of the flight to Jeju  was more  than the flight from Helsinki to Soul, although it took only two hours to flight there.

But it was forth of it.

The island is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been.

The fishing is the main industry here, in my supposition.

Early history , according to the eikipedia text:

According to legend, three demi-gods emerged from Samsung which is said to have been on the northern slopes of Mt. Halla and became the progenitors of the Jeju people who founded the Kingdom of Tamna.

It has also been claimed that three brothers—including Ko-hu—who were the 15th descendants of Koulla, one of the Progenitors of the Jeju people, were received by the court of Silla, at which time[when?] the name Tamna was officially recognized, while the official government posts of Commander, Prince and Governor were conferred by the court upon the three. However, there is no concrete evidence of when the ”Three Names” (Samseong-Ko, Yang and Pu) appeared nor for the exact date of when Ko-hu and his brothers were received by Silla. It may be supposed that the ”Three Names” Founding Period occurred during the Three Kingdoms (Goguryeo, Baekje and Silla) Period on the mainland of Korea.

Because of the relative isolation of the island, the people of Jeju have developed a culture and language that are distinct from those of mainland Korea. Jeju is home to thousands of local legends. Perhaps the most distinct cultural artifact is the ubiquitous dol hareubang (”stone grandfather”) carved from a block of basalt.

This is the view from the bridge, in the front of the city.

There were also some military boats, cause they have to fight every since and then with Vietnamese and Chinese who is legal to cultivate fishing in these area ???? This is also only my opinion. So dont take this so seriously ; – )

Juri had a little  surprise, not to all of us but to Tupu.

I don’t know how many of you knows the habit to put a lock to a railing of a bridge???

We all were more than surprised.

And so they threw the keys to the sea…….

It meant weddings ,,,,,,

Well, lets see, when and where the party will take the place ??

So, this was our first day in Jeju.

Till next day …
